“Skyward Vigil: Kalashnikov’s Drones Target Ukrainian Troops in Kursk, Marking the Fall of the M777 Howitzer”

Kalashnikov Loitering Munitions Engaged Against Ukrainian Forces in Kursk Region, M777 Howitzer’s Destruction Highlighted

The Kalashnikov Concern over the weekend revealed exclusive footage showcasing the deployment of the KUB loitering munition amidst the combat operations in the Kursk region.

The asset from the Kalashnikov Concern featured in the footage targeted a towed M777 howitzer utilized by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which was developed in the United States.

Meanwhile, Kalashnikov Concern President Alan Lushnikov emphasized in a discussion with TASS today that the KYB guided loitering munitions are being delivered to clients under the state defense directive.

“We are elevating the production of these assets every year. Just recently, this summer, we conducted another KYB evaluation,” Alan Lushnikov stated.

The KYB system is manufactured by Kalashnikov Concern JSC in partnership with Izhevsk Unmanned Systems Research and Manufacturing Association LLC (Kalashnikov Concern).

The KYB is designed to eliminate both individual and grouped armored vehicles within the adversary’s operational zone. The series of guided loitering munitions is being refined through close partnership with the client: it is currently being provided with upgraded models of the KYB, featuring enhanced capabilities.

The export version is known as KYB-E. In January at the UMEX 2024 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Rosoboronexport announced that it “had been effectively promoting the Orlan-10E, Orlan-30, and Orion-E reconnaissance/strike UAVs, alongside the KYB-E loitering munition, which have proven their effectiveness in real combat situations.”

The Russian defense exporter expressed interest in industrial cooperation through local drone assembly at the client’s site, along with joint research and development initiatives for next-generation drones, given the extensive expertise from the Russian side in their design and combat application.
