“Oman’s Skyward Journey: Pioneering the Future of Air Travel”
The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) and Boeing have unveiled a collaboration aimed at cultivating innovation and developing talent for the emerging advanced air mobility industry in Oman.
The joint “Air Taxis and Advanced Air Mobility” initiative will leverage MCBS’ strong educational framework and Boeing’s sector expertise to harness the opportunities in this field within Oman. This program will provide MCBS’ undergraduate aviation students, 76% of whom are female, with avenues for groundbreaking research to enhance air mobility technologies. Moreover, participants will partake in business challenges related to urban air mobility, gaining essential leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
Kuljit Ghata-Aura, President of Boeing Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, and Central Asia, stated: “Boeing is steadfastly committed to Oman, and we are eager to contribute to the progression of advanced air mobility in the country. By capitalizing on our global proficiency, we aim to foster innovation and empower the future generation of Omani talent. We look forward to supporting the students at MCBS as they explore the opportunities within this thriving industry.”
Dr. Muneer Al-Maskari, MCBS’ Executive Chair, noted: “With the recent launch of the MCBS Innovation X Center, our partnership with Boeing is transformational for our students. It offers them unparalleled opportunities to apply their knowledge and develop the leadership abilities required for achievement. We are thrilled to partner with Boeing, a company that shares our passion for cutting-edge technologies, youth engagement, and sustainability.”
More than 530 undergraduate Bachelor of Science students at MCBS are set to participate in this initiative in 2025.
The program comprises curriculum enhancement, student initiatives, research and innovation, outreach, and advocacy. By joining forces, MCBS and Boeing will integrate advanced air mobility into the undergraduate aviation management and airport management curricula at MCBS. Furthermore, select students will participate in the Advanced Air Mobility Student Challenge. The research and innovation efforts will establish the Advanced Air Mobility Research Hub, focusing on uncrewed aircraft system traffic management, noise mitigation, and low-emission technologies. With backing from Boeing, MCBS will also organize conferences, workshops, and campaigns to promote safe and sustainable air mobility solutions in Oman.
