Saab’s Innovative Underwater Mine Disarmament System Wins Major Pact with French and British Naval Forces

Saab has obtained its inaugural order from prominent contractor Thales, serving as System Integrator for the all-encompassing solution related to the Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS). The worth of this agreement is approximately 300 MSEK, with the deployment of the first systems scheduled for 2022.

This contract from Thales is crucial to the Franco-British Maritime Mine Counter Measures (MMCM) program, where Saab will deliver state-of-the-art mine detection and neutralization systems operated from unmanned surface vessels. These advanced systems will be utilized by the Royal Navy and the French Navy.

“We are thrilled to announce our first clients for the MuMNS. It’s a substantial milestone to provide capabilities that enable these navies to execute safer and more effective Mine Countermeasure operations, allowing the operator to neutralize multiple underwater mines from a secure distance,” mentions Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business sector Dynamics.
