“Fincantieri Teams Up with BQ Solutions to Revolutionize Naval Education and Training in Qatar”
Fincantieri, a prominent shipbuilding conglomerate globally, and BQ Solutions (BQ), a Qatari enterprise committed to offering strategic benefits to Qatar’s military and security divisions, have today formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Doha. This accord seeks to foster Italian-led educational and training initiatives for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces.
The signing event occurred between Mauro Manzini, Vice President of Sales for the Fincantieri Naval Vessels Division, and Abdulrahman Darwish Fakhro, Chief Executive Officer of BQ Solutions during the 14th edition of MILIPOL Qatar, the International Exhibition & Conference for Homeland Security and Safety.
The MoU establishes a cooperative framework wherein both companies will collaborate to augment Qatar’s naval capabilities through sophisticated training solutions. This new agreement with BQ Solutions builds on the contract made with the Qatar Armed Forces in 2016, which encompassed the construction of seven surface vessels and comprehensive support services comprising crew training, in-service assistance, and integrated logistical support, and it will concentrate on enhancing the caliber and scope of training offerings for Qatari personnel.
“This pact affirms Fincantieri’s commitment to amplifying our contributions via valuable collaborations,” remarked Mauro Manzini, Vice President of Sales for the Fincantieri Naval Vessels Division. The two entities will investigate program improvements that leverage Fincantieri’s extensive expertise in shipbuilding and defense, with initiatives encompassing industrial, operational, and language training to equip Qatar’s naval forces with innovative operational, technical, and logistical proficiencies.
Addressing the importance of this collaboration, Abdulrahman Fakhro, CEO of BQ Solutions, stated: “We are delighted to engage in this agreement which will reinforce our partnership and bolster the defense capabilities of the State of Qatar.”
To this point, Fincantieri has delivered six of the seven contracted surface vessels, with the remaining unit anticipated for delivery this year. Numerous crucial training components, including operational and integrated logistical support, have also been successfully executed.
