“Safran Teams Up with Egyptian Air Force for Innovative EngineLife Solutions”

During the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX) 2023, Safran Aircraft Engines and the Egyptian Air Force revealed the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning the company’s innovative EngineLife® services solution. Per the stipulations of this agreement, the MoU will encompass comprehensive life support (CLS) for the M88 engines that drive Egypt’s existing array of 24 Rafale, provided on a pay-per-hour basis with assured availability levels.

Engineered for military entities utilizing the M88-driven Dassault Aviation Rafale, EngineLife® enhances engine accessibility and diminishes ownership expenses through a suite of services customized for each client. This encompasses the assignment of expert personnel to assist on-site technicians and enhance maintenance procedures; technical assistance by specialized teams to maximize engine output; and the administration of all logistical operations between Safran Aircraft Engines and the client.

By distributing maintenance responsibilities between Safran Aircraft Engines and the end-user, this service provision will empower the Egyptian Air Force’s local on-base technicians to gain from the engine manufacturer’s proficiency in CLS, thus enriching their competencies. It also affords M88 users the opportunity to enhance fleet readiness and gain better oversight of operational expenditures.

“We’re privileged to formalize this MoU with the Egyptian Air Force as part of the inception of our new EngineLife® proposition,” stated Christophe Bruneau, Vice President of Military Engines at Safran Aircraft Engines. “Egypt has been a loyal client of Safran Aircraft Engines over the years. In 2015, it was the inaugural export client to place its confidence in the Rafale powered by our M88 engines. Following the triumphant service introduction of the M88 with Egypt’s Rafale fleet, we’re now enhancing our support services to guarantee our client achieves optimal engine availability for its flying operations.”

“Safran Aircraft Engines has played an instrumental role in bolstering the Egyptian Air Force’s accomplishments for numerous years,” remarked Air Marshal Mahmoud Fouad Abdel-Gawad. “We’re thrilled to be fortifying our enduring alliance with the company through this MoU and eagerly anticipate witnessing the advantages of EngineLife® for our fleet readiness.”
