Airbus Secures Major Deal: 38 Eurofighter Jets for Germany!
Airbus has officially signed a contract to provide 38 advanced Eurofighter aircraft to the German Air Force, positioning Germany as the leading nation in Europe’s largest defense initiative. This significant order, referred to as Quadriga, includes the delivery of 30 single-seater and 8 twin-seater Eurofighters. Notably, three of these aircraft will serve as Instrumented Test Aircraft, aimed at enhancing the Eurofighter program’s development.
Dirk Hoke, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, stated: “The latest Tranche 4 Eurofighter stands as the most advanced combat aircraft produced in Europe, with a service life extending well beyond 2060. Its state-of-the-art technical features will enable comprehensive integration into the European Future Combat Air System (FCAS).”
This renewed order from Germany not only ensures production continuity until 2030 but also arrives at a pivotal moment for the Eurofighter program. Additionally, Spain is expected to place an order to replace its aging F-18 fleet, while procurement decisions from Switzerland and Finland are anticipated in 2021.
The variant proposed for Switzerland aligns with the configuration outlined in the German Quadriga order. Key features include cutting-edge electronic radar, forward-compatible hardware and software, as well as unlimited multi-role capabilities for engaging both air and ground targets.
As Europe’s largest defense initiative, the Eurofighter program involves collaboration from the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy, in addition to Germany, securing over 100,000 jobs across Europe while advancing technological prowess.
