Akaer Joins Forces with Saudi Firm to Pioneer Drone Innovations
Prominent Brazilian tech conglomerate Akaer has forged a collaborative agreement with the Saudi organization Intra Defense Technologies to engineer substantial unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within the nation.
The contract was formalized recently at LAAD Defense & Security 2023, the foremost defense and security exposition in Latin America, conducted in the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro.
Akaer, boasting over 30 years of expertise in crafting advanced technologies for the defense and aerospace industries, mentioned that the initiative will initially cater to demands in the Saudi market, before gradually expanding to additional nations and areas.
At present, Intra successfully operates UAVs throughout Saudi Arabia, amassing over 4,000 flight hours across various operations.
The partner organization has developed two VTOL UAVs (which utilize vertical takeoff and landing), one of which was showcased at LAAD 2023.
“This is a significant alliance for Akaer’s advancement in pivotal markets for Brazil, such as the Middle East. We are broadening our scope globally and establishing new avenues of synergy,” remarked Akaer’s CEO, Cesar Silva, after finalizing the agreement with Intra’s Executive Director of Alliances, Hmoud Alshethre. Also in attendance at the signing ceremony was Intra’s UAV Test Pilot, Mohammed Aljehani.
The collaboration between Akaer and Intra will adhere to the principles of Saudi Vision 2030, which anticipates a predominant local contribution to the program, noted Silva.
The initial project commenced development in January, envisioning the production of a prototype of a Class 3 twin-engine UAV, with expectations that additional systems will emerge in the near future. Moreover, the partnership with Akaer aims to pursue even more ambitious solutions, he added.
