NHIndustries will showcase its presence at the World Defense Show, scheduled from 4th to 8th February in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This exhibition is among the most significant Aerospace and Defense assemblies in the Middle East, and NHI will feature an NH90 helicopter in its naval variant – NFH – currently operational with the Qatar Emiri Air Force, which also utilizes the land variant – TTH.
The NH90’s NFH version is a shipborne compact maritime helicopter designed and developed through the partnership of its Collaborating Companies Airbus, Fokker, and Leonardo – boasting advanced features that are essential in the dynamic maritime operational environment and scenarios. This helicopter operates seamlessly from coastal bases or naval vessels in all conditions, expertly configured for comprehensive capabilities in both anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-surface (ASuW) combat.
Due to its spacious cabin and modular equipment, search and rescue missions can be effectively conducted in either configuration. Additional roles where the NFH excels include maritime surveillance, monitoring, airborne early warning, logistical transport, utility support, vertical replenishment (VERTREP), casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), and special operations (Special Ops / SOF) – encompassing counter-terrorism and anti-piracy efforts.
Since December 2021, the QEAF has acquired 17 helicopters of both models manufactured in the final assembly facilities of Airbus (TTH version) and Leonardo (NFH version).
The Qatari fleet has already achieved over 2,500 flight hours with an exceptional serviceability rate exceeding 80%. This success has been facilitated by a strategic alliance with Leonardo, actively engaged in delivering training and supporting maintenance activities within the country.
