“Kenya Symposium: Bell Sparks Transformative Conversations in East Africa’s Industry”

On 28 June, professionals from the industry convened at the Tamarind Tree Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya to unite and exchange best practices regarding Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, Customer Support and Services, Training, and Bell’s utmost priority, Safety. Guided by Lynette Loosen, Bell’s regional sales manager for Africa & Middle East, the Symposium featured Bell clients, advocates, and industry specialists.

Jason Quisling, senior vice president of Flight Operations and AirCom at Air Methods, an operator of Bell platforms tailored for HEMS, delivered the keynote address providing significant insights into safety in helicopter air ambulances and how vertical flight innovations enhance patient outcomes, reduce rapid response times, and facilitate access to essential healthcare for individuals wherever they may be situated. He emphasized that HEMS configurations extend far beyond mere patient transport, incorporating crucial onboard lifesaving tools and medical supplies that can reach and treat patients at their location.

HEMS Key Segment Specialist, Steve Soliz, Lt Col (R) USAF Reserves, EMS Solutions MBA, also represented Bell by sharing his expertise as a HEMS mission specialist. “HEMS operations are now more adept than ever at providing critical patient care in isolated regions – making healthcare more available to a broader population – an essential service on the expansive continent of Africa. This symposium offered an excellent platform to discuss necessities and various safety issues related to aviation,” commented Soliz.
