“Spanish Marines Gear Up with Cutting-Edge Piranha IIIC Vehicles from General Dynamics”
GDELS has supplied three advanced Piranha IIIC armored vehicles to the Spanish Marine Corps. These deliveries form part of a comprehensive F10 mid-life maintenance strategy involving a total of 21 units.
F10 Initiative Extends Piranha IIIC Service Life
The F10 initiative aims to enhance the capabilities and durability of the Piranha IIIC fleet. GDELS refers to this process as a complete overhaul, including disassembly, repairs, subsystem upgrades, and acceptance evaluations. After reassembly and repainting, the vehicles undergo final assessments before being transferred to the armed forces.
Major Improvements Boost Efficiency and Protection
According to Army Recognition, notable enhancements consist of upgrades to the drivetrain, safety features, and other critical subsystems. These adjustments ensure that the Piranha IIIC remains effective against modern threats while also enhancing overall performance in areas such as maneuverability and crew well-being.
New Piranha Model Launched
In addition to the Piranha IIIC upgrades, GDELS has recently launched a new, supremely agile Piranha model. This 10-wheeled Piranha Heavy Mission Carrier boasts an all-wheel-drive system and sophisticated multi-link suspension, delivering exceptional off-road performance. The carrier is engineered with a reduced turning radius (under 18 meters) and features an increased payload capacity of 17 tons.
