Indonesia Signals Bold Step Toward Boeing F-15EX Acquisition

The Republic of Indonesia and Boeing reaffirmed their dedication to finalize the sale of 24 F-15EX aircraft to Indonesia, contingent upon U.S. government approval, during the visit of Indonesia’s Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto to the United States.

The formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Air Vice Marshal Yusuf Jauhari, Head of the Defense Facilities Agency, Indonesia Ministry of Defense, alongside Mark Sears, Boeing Fighters vice president and program manager, occurred today at the company’s St. Louis facility after a guided tour of the F-15EX assembly line.

“We are excited to declare our intent to acquire the essential F-15EX fighter capability for Indonesia,” stated Minister Subianto, who was present during the MoU signing. “This cutting-edge fighter will safeguard and secure our nation with its sophisticated capabilities.”

The F-15EX represents the most advanced iteration of the F-15 ever manufactured, equipped with digital fly-by-wire flight controls, a state-of-the-art electronic warfare system, an all-glass digital cockpit, and the latest mission systems and software functionalities, all of which will be utilized in delivering the new F-15IDN.

“We have invested years of expertise into enhancing the F-15EX capabilities. There exists no other fighter comparable to the F-15 globally, and this platform will elevate Indonesia’s air superiority capabilities,” remarked Sears. “Boeing stands ready to support this initiative and continues to be a devoted partner to the U.S. government in advancing international security objectives with allies and partners worldwide.”

Boeing and Indonesia have collaborated for nearly 75 years to foster the progression of aerospace and defense capabilities in the nation through training, supply chain enhancement, and partnerships. Currently, Boeing’s footprint in Indonesia includes commercial aviation, defense, space, supply chain development, academic collaborations, and talent development initiatives throughout the local industry.

Presently, the F-15 is utilized by seven nations across the globe.
