Boeing Secures Deal for Seven More Advanced MH-139A Helicopters

The U.S. Air Force has granted Boeing a $178M contract to manufacture seven MH-139A helicopters and offer maintenance and training assistance. This agreement increases the overall number of helicopters under contract to 26.

“Establishing the Grey Wolf fleet and facilitating the transition to full-rate manufacturing is a vital milestone in bolstering the Air Force’s modernization objectives,” remarked Azeem Khan, MH-139 program director. “Fulfilling these obligations and enhancing capabilities for our clientele is crucial to their mission of safeguarding essential national resources.”

This contract follows the first production helicopter completing its inaugural flight in December 2023. With the initial production helicopter presently undergoing further testing and additional units at various production milestones, Boeing is poised to provide the first LRIP helicopters to the Air Force this summer.

The MH-139 is a versatile helicopter designed for roles such as patrol, search and rescue, and transporting troops and cargo. Based on the reliable Leonardo Helicopters AW139 and equipped with customized military technology by Boeing, the MH-139 incorporates cutting-edge advancements that enable operators to accomplish missions swiftly, quietly, efficiently, and safely.
