Boeing Secures Major Contract to Enhance British Army’s Apache AH-64E Fleet

AH-64E Guardian: The Next Generation of Apache Helicopters

Previously recognized as the AH-64D Block III, it was rebranded in 2012 as the AH-64E Guardian, reflecting its enhanced capabilities. This cutting-edge helicopter boasts significant advancements, including:

  • Enhanced digital connectivity
  • Joint Tactical Information Distribution System
  • More robust T700-GE-701D engines
  • Upgraded face gear transmission for increased power
  • Capability to control unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
  • Full Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capability
  • Upgraded landing gear

In a recent procurement move, bids were solicited online, resulting in a single proposal. The project will be executed in Mesa, Arizona, with an estimated completion set for December 31, 2024. Funding for this initiative, amounting to $191,858,915, comes from the Fiscal 2020 Foreign Military Sales (United Kingdom) program, which was obligated upon contract award. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is overseeing the contracting activities.
