Boeing Pledges $300,000 to Support Moroccan Earthquake Recovery Initiatives

Boeing has declared a $300,000 contribution (approximately 3,000,000 MAD) from the Boeing Charitable Trust to aid in the recovery and relief initiatives following the Moroccan earthquake. The corporation also committed to match dollar-for-dollar financial contributions from Boeing employees who wish to support this cause, amplifying the assistance rendered to the Moroccan citizens.

“In light of the devastation caused by this earthquake, we express our heartfelt condolences to the Moroccan people facing such unprecedented difficulties,” stated Ziad Ojakli, executive vice president of Government Operations at Boeing. “Boeing team members worldwide are committed to assisting the people of Morocco, and we are prepared to partner with local organizations to deliver impactful support that fosters healing, reconstruction, and rejuvenation.”

The Boeing funding will assist the following organizations:

  • $150,000 to the American Red Cross, in collaboration with the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, for shelter, nutrition, health and mental health services, along with other relief efforts such as hygiene kits, essential supplies, and welfare information.
  • $150,000 to CARE International for urgent water, food, and medical assistance for those affected.

“Thanks to Boeing’s generous contribution, the global Red Cross network is aiding those impacted by the Morocco earthquake,” remarked Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “We appreciate the support from partners like Boeing as we collaborate to bring solace and hope to communities in the aftermath of this tragic disaster.”

“The accounts we’re receiving from the ground are devastating. According to our team in Morocco, hundreds of individuals are sleeping outdoors at night, huddled in blankets in parks within the heart of Marrakesh, too frightened to return home,” shared Madden Manion, executive director of Corporate Partnerships, CARE International. “Individuals are worn out, and the psychological trauma and terror of their experiences are beyond description. The upcoming days are critical, and the generous and prompt support provided by Boeing will significantly assist us in our mission. CARE’s focus is to ensure hot meals, reliable water supplies, emergency housing, and medical and psychosocial care.”

Disaster relief operations in Morocco mirror Boeing’s dedication to the communities where Boeing employees reside and work. Boeing has established a presence in Morocco for over 50 years, with contributions totaling around $1 million in charitable donations in the past decade.
