Boeing Pledges Over $10 Million to Advance Racial Equality and Social Justice Initiatives
Investments Aimed at Elevating Underserved Communities
Boeing’s Future Plans for Racial Equity Funding
Boeing [NYSE: BA] has made a significant contribution of $10.6 million to support a coalition of 20 nonprofits dedicated to enhancing racial equity and social justice across the United States. This funding is part of Boeing’s broader, multi-year commitment, which focuses on increasing opportunities for minority and underserved students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, as well as diversifying the aerospace talent pipeline. Additionally, these funds will aid programs targeting criminal justice reform and health care access in minority communities.
“At Boeing, we recognize the profound effects that systemic racism and social injustice have imposed on people of color, especially within Black communities in the United States,” stated David Calhoun, Boeing President and CEO. “While we strive to tackle these issues internally, we remain committed to addressing the root causes and consequences of racism and social inequality in the regions where our employees reside. With our current financial pledge to these nonprofit partners, we aspire to make tangible strides in our ongoing mission for equality.”
This announcement underscores Boeing’s longstanding collaboration with organizations that strive to improve access and rectify disparities in communities of color. Over the past five years, Boeing has invested over $120 million to enhance underserved communities, focusing specifically on racial equity and social justice initiatives throughout the nation. Further announcements regarding Boeing’s racial equity and social justice investment strategy are anticipated in the near future.
