Boeing Secures $21.6 Million to Upgrade Saudi F-15S Fighter Jets

Saudi’s ‘Eagle Fighter”

The U.S. Department of Defense has engaged Boeing, an American aircraft manufacturer, to assist in the conversion of the Royal Saudi Air Force’s F-15S to the modern F-15SA fighter jet.

The announcement, made on Monday, outlines plans for the transformation of the Royal Saudi Air Force’s F-15S into the F-15SA variant, which encompasses program oversight, remote support from the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C.; temporary onsite assistance outside the continental U.S. if necessary; and comprehensive repairs.

According to the agreement, the aerospace leader will carry out all operations in St. Louis, Missouri, with an expected completion date of December 30, 2022.

This agreement also involves Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and stems from a sole-source procurement.

Full FMS funding is being allocated upon awarding of the contract, as per U.S. Department of Defense announcements.

The F-15SA represents an enhanced iteration of the F-15S currently in service with the Royal Saudi Air Force.

The upgraded aircraft features a digital electronic warfare system, fly-by-wire control technology, an infrared search-and-track capability, Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, sophisticated cockpit interfaces, and Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems, among other state-of-the-art advancements.
