Boeing Wins Major Deal for Six Advanced MH-47G Block II Chinook Helicopters

The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC) has granted Boeing [NYSE: BA] a contract to manufacture six refurbished MH-47G Block II helicopters as a component of the Army’s modernization initiatives. With the agreement valued at $271 million, Boeing currently holds contracts for 42 MH-47G helicopters with USASOAC.

“The Chinook has served as a pivotal asset in the special operations arena for numerous years. USASOAC and allied nations have harnessed the exceptional features of the Chinook to execute some of the most audacious missions worldwide,” stated Heather McBryan, vice president and program manager of cargo programs. “With the upgraded MH-47G, USASOAC soldiers are exceptionally equipped to confront today’s demanding conditions.”

As the requirements for special operations have grown increasingly intricate, the heavy-lift helicopter has evolved to satisfy those shifting demands. The MH-47G Block II program not only caters to the immediate needs of warfighters but also ensures that the Chinook remains relevant on the battlefield well into the future.

“With the latest and enhanced MH-47G Block II helicopters, USASOAC is not just acquiring the most advanced Chinook helicopter, but they are also granted the adaptability to implement further enhancements as their requirements change over time,” McBryan concluded.
