Boeing and U.S. Army Forge $3.4 Billion Pact for 268 Advanced AH-64E Apache Choppers

Historic Apache Agreement Signed

The latest multi-year contractual agreement for the Apache “E” variant has been finalized. This strategic decision will enhance military readiness as the Army is set to receive a total of 244 refurbished Apache helicopters, alongside 24 brand new units destined for international customers.

U.S. Army Col. Joseph Hoecherl, the Apache project manager, expressed optimism about the agreement, stating, “This contract is a major win for our Army, our soldiers, American taxpayers, and our valuable industry partners. It reflects the unwavering commitment and teamwork of both government and industry in delivering the premier capabilities of the world’s best attack helicopter – the AH-64E Apache – in a cost-effective manner that provides savings for taxpayers year after year. The advanced technologies housed in the Apache are crucial to Army operations worldwide when in the hands of our skilled U.S. soldiers.”

Manufactured by Boeing in Mesa, Arizona, the Apache “E” model has been in production since October 2011. This iconic helicopter model has garnered orders from seven international customers, while the U.S. and 15 other countries have successfully relied on its capabilities for nearly three decades.

Kim Smith, Boeing’s vice president of Attack Helicopters, remarked on the helicopter’s legacy: “The Apache has significantly influenced the defense strategies of nations for the past 37 years. We recognize our responsibility to deliver the finest aircraft while ensuring timely deliveries at competitive prices. Our team remains steadfast in continuing this tradition of excellence.”
