
Bulgaria Enhances Air Defense with Cutting-Edge AMRAAM Missile Acquisition
Bulgaria has officially joined the ranks as the 40th user of the AMRAAM missile, solidifying its commitment to advanced air defense capabilities through a recent agreement with the U.S. Air Force.
This landmark letter of offer and acceptance enables the U.S. government to initiate crucial contract negotiations with Raytheon Missiles & Defense for an undisclosed number of missiles.
“AMRAAM provides unparalleled air superiority to pilots, offering them a significant edge in aerial combat,” stated Paul Ferraro, vice president of Raytheon Missiles & Defense’s Air Power division. “This missile will greatly enhance Bulgaria’s capability to defend against sophisticated threats.”
The AMRAAM missile is designed for dual roles, providing exceptional operational flexibility for air-to-air and surface-launch missions. In its air-to-air application, the missile features an advanced active guidance section and a reliable seeker design, enabling it to swiftly locate targets even in the most challenging environments.
