Otokar Sets Sights on Expanding Its Export Footprint in Africa

Turkey’s international land systems producer Otokar is taking part in the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) from September 18-22, in the City of Tshwane, South Africa. Throughout the five-day event, Otokar will showcase a scaled representation of its tactical wheeled armored vehicle COBRA II, part of its extensive lineup of armored platforms. Attendees at the Otokar booth will have the opportunity to gain in-depth insights into Otokar’s exceptional capabilities in land systems, alongside its own design and manufacturing of armored military vehicle families and turret systems.

Declaring that Otokar is a registered NATO and United Nations vendor, Sedef Vehbi, Head of Otokar Military Cluster, remarked, “Currently, over 33 thousand Otokar military vehicles are operational in more than 40 countries, with over 60 end users navigating diverse climates and geographies around the globe. Presently, Otokar vehicles are actively deployed across five continents, including Africa. We distinguish ourselves in the global defense sector with our capacity to swiftly adapt to the ever-evolving demands and requirements of our clients.”

Emphasizing COBRA II’s impressive performance in Africa, Vehbi added, “Our vehicles are extensively employed by peacekeepers throughout the African continent. The Otokar COBRA II is a battle-tested vehicle with outstanding effectiveness suited for both conventional and asymmetric warfare scenarios. COBRA II is actively utilized by over 20 end-users globally. We take immense pride in our vehicles’ achievements in various United Nations and African Union peacebuilding and peacekeeping operations. Our objective is to enhance our exports to Africa in the upcoming years.”
