Czech Defense Leader Commits to Advanced Helicopter Technology with AH-1Z and UH-1Y Contracts
Bell Textron Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT), has reached another milestone in the fabrication of AH-1Z and UH-1Y helicopters for global clientele. The Chief of Defense of the Czech Republic (CHOD), Gen. Aleš Opata, along with his delegation, visited Bell’s Amarillo Assembly Center in a pivotal meeting to witness the production line for the Czech Republic H-1 aircraft.
“Welcoming Gen. Opata at our Amarillo Assembly Center enables us to display the substantial advancements Bell has achieved in aircraft manufacturing to bolster this crucial international initiative and client,” remarked Mike Deslatte, vice president and program director of H-1. “We are privileged to nurture our excellent partnership with the Czech Republic as we gear up to deliver them advanced defense aircraft and further the triumph of the H-1 program.”
During his visit, Gen. Opata inscribed the beams of the inaugural AH-1Z and UH-1Y aircraft designated for the Czech Republic. Manufacturing is proceeding as planned, with all 12 aircraft anticipated to be finalized in 2023.
“In contemporary military operations, a primary necessity is the capability to excel in both aerial functionalities and logistical support,” stated Nate Green, H-1 program manager. “There is no better illustration of two synergistic aircraft consistently operating from expeditionary bases and accomplishing numerous missions in coordination than the AH-1Z and UH-1Y.”
The Bell AH-1Z and UH-1Y provide cutting-edge capabilities for defense operations and diminish the maintenance and operational footprint, thanks to their 85% commonality. Bell is currently producing AH-1Zs for the U.S. Marine Corps and anticipates finalizing deliveries this year, followed by fabrication for international customers. Recently, Bell completed the initial delivery of four AH-1Z helicopters to the Bahrain Defence Force and expects to carry out the first international consignment of the AH-1Z within the year.
