Sky Warriors: Eurofighter Typhoons Show Their Prowess in Saudi Drills
The Eurofighter Typhoon from the RAF’s Fighter Squadron has been participating in the Spears of Victory — an international air training drill organized by the Royal Saudi Air Force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Throughout the exercise — which is of a lesser scale yet comparable in intricacy to the US-led Red Flag operation — the RAF Typhoons executed daily missions.
In total, more than 60 aircraft were involved, featuring Eurofighter Typhoons, Tornados, and F-15s from the host Royal Saudi Air Force. The Royal Air Force of Oman also contributed by deploying their Typhoon.
Additionally, squadrons from Pakistan, Greece, the UAE, and France were present, while the US enhanced the operations by providing Air to Air Refueling capabilities.

During the flights, the aviators executed air operations against a mock adversary. They undertook a broad spectrum of training missions encompassing defensive counter-air, offensive counter-air strategies, and air interdiction drills against both actual and simulated threats.
The exercise demanded a vast training zone, and the King Abdulaziz Air Base, Dhahran, located along the Gulf coast in eastern Saudi Arabia was perfect, offering a training region of approximately 300 sq km.
RAF Squadron Leader Hodgkinson, the UK Detachment Commander, mentioned: “This was an incredibly significant training opportunity for all personnel deployed.
“It was beneficial for the force enablers who had the chance to collaborate with strategic associates in the region, as well as for the fighter pilots executing the operations.
“The pilots and aircrew involved in this multinational drill were able to forge relationships through shared experiences.”
