Rome, 11 April 2016 – Finmeccanica, now known as “Leonardo,” is poised to showcase its exceptional aerospace and security solutions at the LAAD Security exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This event highlights the company’s commitment to bolstering safety and security in one of South America’s key markets, emphasizing their growth in both regional and global arenas.
The exhibition will feature the impressive AW109 GrandNew helicopter utilized by the Government of the State of Sao Paolo for environmental and forest patrols, as well as airborne surveillance since its delivery in 2015. With over 200 helicopters currently operating across Brazil, Finmeccanica serves various roles including executive transport, public utility services, and law enforcement operations.
The Brazilian market presents significant opportunities for the EASA-certified AW169 and the AW109 Trekker, tailored for law enforcement and security missions. Well-established in the region, the AW119Kx, now equipped with a cutting-edge glass cockpit and advanced avionics, meets the demands of operators seeking versatile equipment for diverse roles. Notably, the Brazilian Federal Police was the first in South America to implement the AW139, significantly enhancing their operational capabilities.
Furthermore, Finmeccanica operates a state-of-the-art regional support center in São Paulo, delivering vital customer support services for the AgustaWestland helicopter fleet in Brazil and neighboring countries. This includes support for the AW119, AW109 series, Grand, GrandNew, and AW139, with plans to extend services to the AW189 and AW169 shortly.
