MBDA Launches Revolutionary Precision Artillery Solutions for Ground Forces
MBDA’s innovative surface-to-surface strike capabilities for the British Army are being highlighted for the inaugural time at Defence Vehicles Dynamics (DVD) 2022, occurring on the 21st and 22nd of September at UTAC Millbrook, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom.
MBDA’s ‘Land Precision Fires Family’, which includes Surface-Launched Brimstone and Land Precision Strike (LPS), are munitions that deliver accuracy at multiple ranges, functioning continuously with minimal collateral damage across various operational circumstances, ranging from peer engagements to limited sub-threshold operations. These systems are designed to assist commanders in succeeding in the deep engagement and influencing the close combat scenarios.

Brimstone on Boxer
The Brimstone on Boxer concept displayed at DVD has been developed by both RBSL and MBDA in response to the British Army’s requirement for a Mounted Close Combat Overwatch (MCCO) capability, as part of its future anti-armor necessities termed Battle Group Organic Anti-Armour (BGOAA). Engaging swiftly to deliver precision anti-armor capabilities at extended ranges, the Brimstone on Boxer mission module provides the functionality for Heavy Combat Teams to fend off enemy formations and singular targets. Quickly establishing an initial capacity with existing equipment and further evolving through comprehensive battlefield integration lies at the core of this concept.
Brimstone on High Mobility Transporter HMT600 series
The Brimstone on HMT600 concept has been crafted by both Supacat and MBDA to furnish the Light Forces tactical commander with a corresponding organic Overwatch capability to swiftly provide precision anti-armor effects at significant ranges and in ample volume. This may potentially incorporate in-service equipment such as the Forsberg Fused Target Locator (FTL) and MANTIS Battlefield Management System, while also progressively developing over time.
Land Precision Strike
Land Precision Strike (LPS) addresses the evolving artillery demand to neutralize high-value targets in the deep conflict; targets that may be mobile and transient in nature, thereby achieving a disproportionate operational impact on adversaries.
MBDA is collaborating closely with MOD stakeholders on LPS weapon system concepts that promise land commanders a quantum leap in capabilities against armor at distance—delivering precisely targeted, highly discriminate, and minimal collateral effects for both peer and sub-peer conflicts. The aim is to launch the LPS missile from various platforms, including M270 MLRS, fulfilling MOD’s “one platform, many weapons” initiative.
MBDA stands as the lone European defense consortium capable of crafting and producing missiles and missile systems that meet the entire spectrum of current and foreseeable operational requirements of the three military branches (land, sea, and air).
With a substantial presence in five European nations and across the USA, MBDA generated revenues of 4.2 billion euros in 2021, supported by an order portfolio of 17.8 billion euros.
