“How HAVELSAN’s BAHA and POYRAZ Drones are Revolutionizing Search and Rescue Efforts in Turkey’s Earthquake Response”

In the wake of the catastrophic earthquakes our country has faced, as HAVELSAN, we have been committed to mobilizing all our resources to enhance search and rescue operations utilizing our innovative technologies, and providing support to our citizens during this grave natural catastrophe. From the initial day of the earthquake, HAVELSAN joined the search and rescue teams, dispatched assistance to the victims, and made both in-kind and monetary contributions to alleviate the harsh circumstances for individuals affected by these disasters. In addition to these efforts, HAVELSAN’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, BAHA and POYRAZ drones, participated in reconnaissance and surveillance missions to support the search and rescue teams in the affected areas.

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, BAHA and POYRAZ, executed scouting and surveillance operations, particularly in rural and mountainous regions, relaying the visual data collected back to the command center in the area. BAHA addressed the demand for imagery with its sub-cloud flying capabilities, particularly when inclement weather rendered other UAVs ineffective. With BAHA’s assistance, search and rescue personnel were able to receive initial data regarding locations where vehicular access was restricted.

The BAHA UAV, with its vertical take-off and landing capabilities, adeptly operated in challenging terrains and conditions in the area. Its advantage lies in its ability to function even in light rain due to its weatherproof design, allowing BAHA to capture and transmit high-resolution images from extended distances through its state-of-the-art electro-optical technology during search and rescue missions.

Furthermore, HAVELSAN’s Unmanned Ground Vehicle, BARKAN, was also deployed to the affected region with a load-bearing basket. When necessary, BARKAN will assist in transporting injured earthquake survivors or essential supplies in the area.
