Oshkosh Defense Lands $152 Million Contract to Deliver JLTVs for U.S. Military and NATO Partners
The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has proclaimed that it has granted Oshkosh Defense, a wholly-owned division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), a substantial $152 Million contract for Joint Light Tactical Wheeled Vehicles (JLTV), accompanying trailers, and related kits.
The contract encompasses Oshkosh JLTVs, trailers, and kits for the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Navy, in conjunction with NATO allies such as Lithuania, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Romania.
Since securing the competitive JLTV agreement in 2015, Oshkosh has manufactured over 12,500 JLTVs, deployed vehicles to over 40 military bases in the U.S. and internationally, and garnered commitments from 8 NATO, Allied, and Coalition partners.
“We have dedicated over a decade to the development of our vehicle, followed by almost six years of producing the vehicle in both low-rate and high-rate production,” stated George Mansfield, Vice President and General Manager of Joint Programs at Oshkosh Defense. “We have enhanced the manufacturing approach, advanced our extensive supply chain, and filled the light tactical vehicle capability void in 8 additional nations with our proven platform. No other competitor can claim the same. Additionally, we have no intentions of halting the production of the Oshkosh JLTV in the near future.”
The U.S. Army has recently raised Oshkosh’s option ceiling under the existing contract from 18,170 to 23,163 vehicles to bolster crucial missions globally.
“Oshkosh Defense is immensely satisfied with the overwhelming reception the JLTV consistently receives worldwide,” said John Lazar, Vice President and General Manager of International Programs at Oshkosh Defense. “The JLTV delivers unparalleled levels of off-road mobility, survivability, and integrated firepower on a light tactical vehicle framework. We had an active Spring, and the momentum surrounding the platform is steadily increasing.”
In May, the North Macedonia Minister of Defense, Radmila Sekerinska, experienced a ride in the JLTV for the first time. Sekerinska later tweeted, “These new American-produced light armored vehicles will be integrated into the Army facilities. Today at Krivolak, we witnessed their exceptional performance. This is what our Army embodies in #NATO.”
In June, the Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Matej Tonin, stated during a JLTV acceptance ceremony, “The modernization of the Slovenian Army has officially commenced. With the new Oshkosh 4×4 light armored vehicles, our Soldiers will be more successful and secure in their missions domestically and internationally.”
To date, Oshkosh has secured orders or commitments from several NATO, Allied, and Coalition partners, including the United Kingdom, Belgium, Montenegro, Slovenia, Lithuania, Brazil, Romania, and North Macedonia.
