Hanwha Aerospace Secures Strategic Deal with HSW for Krab Chassis Innovations
Hanwha Aerospace and HSW S.A. have established a contract for the provision of chassis elements for 87 Krab Self-Propelled Howitzers, creating a new standard in a ten-year collaboration between the two significant industries.
Valued at approximately USD 280 million, the agreement ensures that Hanwha Aerospace will deliver Krab components from 2026 to 2028. This contract also encompasses the provision of powerpacks for the Self-Propelled Howitzer (SPH) Krab, an essential artillery capability utilized by the Polish Armed Forces. The Krab is a 155mm/52-caliber SPH developed and produced in Poland by HSW S.A. in partnership with Hanwha.
The signing event took place at the HSW headquarters in Stalowa Wola, with prominent representatives from both companies present, including Mr. Jaeil Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace; Mr. Wojciech Kdeziera, President of the Management Board and General Director of Huta Stalowa Wola S.A.; Mr. Arkadiusz Bąk, President of the Management Board, General Director of PGZ S.A.; Mr. Dongyeon Kim, Head of the Land Systems Business Group, Hanwha Aerospace; and Mr. Billy Boo-hwan Lee, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace Europe.
“Approximately ten years ago, we commenced our venture together with the initial KRAB program,” Mr. Son remarked during the event. “The achievement of those 120 units not only showcased the fusion of technologies from both entities but also laid the foundation for a robust partnership between our nations.”
Mr. Son continued, “Hanwha Aerospace is committed to supporting HSW in the quest for our nations’ autonomy, utilizing HSW’s exceptional facilities and engineering prowess.”
In 2014, Hanwha entered into a pact to provide chassis components for the Krab howitzer, followed by a subsequent agreement in 2023. This latest contract marks the third of its nature.
