“Eye in the Sky: Kalashnikov’s Loitering Munitions Target Ukrainian Forces in Kursk, Showcasing the Demise of the M777 Howitzer”

Kalashnikov Loitering Munitions Deployed Against Ukrainian Forces in Kursk Area, M777 Howitzer’s Demise Showcased

The Kalashnikov Concern over the weekend unveiled an exclusive footage of the deployment of the KUB loitering munition amid the combat engagements in the Kursk area.

The asset from the Kalashnikov Concern in the footage struck a towed M777 howitzer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, developed in the USA.

Meanwhile, Kalashnikov Concern President Alan Lushnikov highlighted in a conversation with TASS today that the KYB guided loitering munitions are being supplied to the client per the state defense mandate.

“We are amplifying the production of these assets annually. Just recently, this summer, we carried out another KYB evaluation,” Alan Lushnikov remarked.

The KYB system is produced by Kalashnikov Concern JSC in collaboration with Izhevsk Unmanned Systems Research and Manufacturing Association LLC (Kalashnikov Concern).

The KYB is engineered to obliterate individual and clustered armored vehicles in the opponent’s tactical zone. The series of guided loitering munitions is being enhanced through close collaboration with the client: it is currently being supplied with upgraded variants of the KYB featuring enhanced capabilities.

The export variant is referred to as KYB-E. In January at the UMEX 2024 exhibition held in Abu Dhabi, Rosoboronexport announced that it “had been effectively advocating the Orlan-10E, Orlan-30, and Orion-E reconnaissance/strike UAVs, alongside the KYB-E loitering munition, which have validated their effectiveness in actual combat scenarios.”

The Russian defense exporter expressed its willingness for industrial collaboration through the local assembly of drones at the client’s location, joint R&D initiatives for next-gen drones, considering the extensive expertise of the Russian side in their development and combat utilization.
