“Romania Bolsters Defense with Cutting-Edge Polaris DAGOR Ultralight Tactical Vehicles”

Polaris Government and Defense has secured a contract to deliver its DAGOR ultralight tactical vehicle to Romania. Over 50 of these off-road and internally transportable vehicles will enhance tactical mobility for the Romanian Armed Forces in response to both current and future challenges. As a NATO member nation, Romania will receive these vehicles through the U.S. government’s foreign military sales (FMS) initiative, aimed at bolstering allied forces worldwide, with a growing focus on the European Command (EUCOM). The agreement also encompasses upgrades and spare components for the vehicles, along with operator and maintenance training conducted locally by Polaris field service personnel.

Interoperability is essential in modern warfare, and the Polaris DAGOR offers platform uniformity to the special operations community, catering to clients globally, including U.S. forces, Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM), various European militaries, and other international forces. Polaris military vehicles have emerged as force multipliers for expeditionary units by extending operational range while reducing operator fatigue and boosting mission readiness and capacity.

Proven and dependable DAGOR ultralight tactical vehicles deliver outstanding off-road performance, payload capacity, and transportability – capable of transporting warfighters and their equipment, with a total payload of up to 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms). DAGOR utilizes widely available commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) driveline, controls, and components, including a diesel/JP8 engine chosen for its ideal balance of power, weight, and size.

The DAGOR features a versatile and modular design that enables it to accommodate a variety of missions and adapt to changing environments and emerging threats. The open layout of the cargo bed maximizes loading capacity, flexibility, and accessibility for mission-critical equipment. An increased ride height – even under full load – enhances obstacle clearance and boosts off-road performance.

DAGOR’s distinctive design and use of commercial components facilitate straightforward operation, maintenance, and sustainability to support combat missions. DAGOR can also be quickly deployed and maintains capabilities for airdrop, sling-load, and internal tactical air transport aboard CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters, as well as inside C-130 Hercules aircraft.

Polaris provides a specialized solution to the Romanian Armed Forces – the company’s know-how in off-road mobility results in military vehicles tailored for rugged environments, enabling Romanian warfighters to traverse harsher off-road terrains at full load faster than any competitor in this category. The Romanian Armed Forces also operate Polaris MV850 all-terrain vehicles and MRZR turbo diesel ultralight all-terrain vehicles.

Arctic mobility is pivotal for expeditionary and special operations units, prompting these specialized teams globally to rely on Polaris and its snowmobiles and modified tactical vehicles. An Arctic Mobility Package is now offered for the MRZR Alpha. The fully enclosed cab and tracks broaden the operational range of the MRZR Alpha and enhance its adaptability to a diverse array of terrains. Polaris Snowmobiles can significantly extend operators’ reach in environments that would typically take days to traverse on foot. Snowmobiles are indispensable assets in deep snow and mountainous regions, which generally pose challenges for large-scale military operations. Titan and Pro-RMK snowmobiles have been augmented to include blackout drive, infrared lighting, winch kits, and tow hitches – significantly improving their capacity to navigate difficult terrains and access remote areas efficiently.

Polaris designs and engineers the most advanced light tactical military vehicles available today, with ongoing technology development and implementation to address future battlefield needs. No entity understands light off-road mobility quite like Polaris. Polaris light tactical vehicles – the MV850, MRZR turbo diesel, Alpha, and DAGOR – support over 50 military forces, underscoring the operational gaps these vehicles effectively bridge. These platforms deliver unparalleled off-road capability while being user-friendly, easy to maintain, highly transportable, and straightforward to support globally.
