Revolutionizing Naval Power: GDMS’s Cutting-Edge Electronics for MK 54 Torpedo Enhancement
General Dynamics Mission Systems disclosed today that it has received a fixed-price-incentive, firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, and cost-only contract from the U.S. Navy in December, amounting to as much as $808.6 million, aimed at producing MK 54 MOD 1 Lightweight Torpedo Kits, along with related testing equipment, spare components, provisioned item orders, engineering support, and hardware assistance for the MK 54 Lightweight Torpedo Initiative.
Activities will be executed in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and are scheduled to be finalized by December 2032.
“Our Progeny Systems group has been delivering cutting-edge torpedo electronics to the U.S. Navy and its partners for 18 years. This agreement ensures that our naval vessels and aircraft will feature the most sophisticated and powerful torpedoes worldwide for years to come,” remarked Laura Hooks, vice president and general manager of Maritime and Strategic Systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems.
Progeny Systems was merged into General Dynamics Mission Systems in 2022. Located in Manassas, Virginia, Progeny Systems provides a vast array of competencies and lifecycle support solutions for U.S. submarines and surface fleets.
