Leonardo is enhancing its service accessibility and capabilities in the helicopter sector by initiating new ventures in the UK through a lasting alliance with Aldenham Aviation Ltd.

Utilizing an established facility and infrastructure at London Elstree Aerodrome, operations aim to implement Part 145 maintenance capabilities by this autumn. Additional initiatives in collaboration with Aldenham Aviation Ltd. will expand these capabilities, all of which supplement the current service network and improve efficiency alongside our regional collaborators. The new capacity will function in precise alignment with Leonardo Belgium S.A. Logistics Centre, addressing the rising demand for Leonardo commercial helicopters in the UK and Ireland, especially within the VIP-Corporate segment where Leonardo is the premier OEM. The facility will provide top-tier support services, featuring the most recent advancements in technology following the launch of the Agusta brand, tailored specifically to meet the needs of passenger transport operators.

More than 175 helicopters, comprising AW109s, AW169s, AW139s, and AW189s, are operational in the area for passenger transport, offshore logistics, and public services, with the advanced AW09 single engine expected to follow, further contributing to Leonardo’s fleet growth. Consequently, Leonardo is dedicated to assuring heightened responsiveness and service excellence by offering technical and maintenance support that aligns with the changing market demands.

Owned and operated by Aldenham Aviation Ltd., London Elstree Aerodrome is superbly situated to cater to London and the South-East area, given the high and growing frequency of helicopter operations in this region of England. With a flight duration to London of just 8 minutes by helicopter, the airfield accommodates all general aviation and rotorcraft activities, featuring dedicated ground handlers and Flight Information Service Operators, 24/7 refueling, aircraft maintenance, hangar space, and multiple active flying schools and aviation enterprises.
