  • The Eurofighter Kuwait initiative is advancing as anticipated, achieving success in terms of aircraft deliveries.
  • Acceptance procedures were finalized through a collaborative effort of Kuwaiti and Italian teams from the Joint International Program Office.

The third and fourth Eurofighter Typhoons for the Kuwait Air Force arrived yesterday as part of a broader order encompassing 28 aircraft intended for the Kuwait Air Force.

The ferry flight for the new Kuwaiti Eurofighters was facilitated by the critical support of the Italian Air Force, which ensured the “Air to Air Refueling operation.” This was accomplished through complex operational efforts involving one KC-767A tanker from the 14th Wing, Pratica di Mare.

Guido Sibona, Vice President of Leonardo’s Eurofighter Program, remarked: “I felt immense pride last month watching Eurofighters soar over Kuwait City during the National Day celebrations, just as we are augmenting the fleet as scheduled today. The Eurofighter Typhoons we have developed and produced for the Kuwait Air Force stand as the most sophisticated within the entire European program. In partnership with the Italian Air Force, we are equipping the nation with remarkable aerial defense capabilities and have constructed state-of-the-art infrastructure to sustain and maintain a fleet of 28 aircraft.”

The Eurofighter Kuwait initiative is part of a broader and more profound partnership between the Italian Air Force and the Kuwait Air Force, covering operations, pilot training, and support systems.

The Italian Air Force is supervising the initial training of engineers and technicians in Italy who will facilitate Typhoon fleet operations in Kuwait.

Leonardo also plays a pivotal role in enhancing the Eurofighter thanks to the new AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar that equips the Kuwaiti Typhoons, thereby elevating the aircraft’s performance and competitiveness.

The Eurofighter aircraft benefits from a clearly defined program of technological advancements and enhancements that assure its competitiveness throughout its lifecycle. Continuously evolving technologies, both onboard the aircraft and within the logistical support system, enhance its operational efficiency, survivability, and effective management. The Eurofighter program remains a cornerstone in the advancement of European aerospace and defense technologies, providing involved industries with a technological edge that will ensure competitiveness for numerous future generation programs.
