“Leonardo expresses their contentment regarding the announcement from the US Department of Defense, which, as part of the initiative for developing a new high-tech training system for the US Navy managed by AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corp., involves options for an additional 36 TH-73A helicopters, along with associated spare components, valued at $159.4 million,” Leonardo stated.

In January 2020, Leonardo, via AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corp., secured a primary contract valued at $176 million for the fabrication and delivery of 32 TH-73A helicopters, along with an initial supply of spare parts, support, specialized equipment, and essential training services for pilots and maintenance technicians.

In November 2020, further options were activated for an additional 36 helicopters amounting to $171 million. The newly announced contract for these 36 units elevates the total number of helicopters ordered thus far to 104. The total requirement stands at 130 units. These helicopters will be manufactured at the Leonardo facility in Philadelphia and utilized for training the upcoming generation of pilots for the US Navy, Marine Corps, and the US Coast Guard.
