BAE Unveils Innovative Support Framework for Norway’s CV90 Armored Vehicles
BAE Systems has finalized a new support, maintenance, and readiness agreement with the Norwegian Army for its fleet of 144 CV90 Infantry Combat Vehicles, securing an innovative contract framework to enhance availability and ongoing modernization of the fleet.
The seven-year agreement with the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation outlines the procurement of parts and equipment, alongside management and engineering services. It encompasses the upkeep of the System Integration Lab, which allows both the client and BAE Systems to evaluate the vehicles’ current conditions and readiness status, ensuring optimized vehicle performance and capabilities throughout the fleet.
“We are delighted to formalize this agreement to further secure the CV90 fleet for the future, enhancing ongoing support and incremental capability improvements,” remarked Maj. Gen. Lars Christian Aamodt, head of the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation. “Today, we possess one of the globe’s most contemporary Infantry Combat Vehicles capable of integrating combined arms with aerial and naval systems. Through this contract, we aim to maintain this competitive edge for many years ahead.”
This incremental enhancement and continuous improvement framework, executed as a collaborative initiative between the Norwegian Army, local industry players, and BAE Systems Hägglunds, will ensure that the battle-tested CV90 remains among the world’s elite Infantry Combat Vehicles in operational service.
“We eagerly anticipate bolstering the trust and collaboration we share with our Norwegian client, as well as expanding our positive experiences with local industry partners, who play a crucial role in this contract,” stated Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, the manufacturer of the CV90. “We are dedicated to going above and beyond to support our Norwegian client and other nations utilizing the vehicle, all of whom gain from being part of the CV90 User Club.”
BAE Systems Hägglunds, headquartered in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, is actively collaborating with its Norwegian industry network, including small and medium-sized enterprises, to deliver an additional 20 new CV90s to the Norwegian Army. This order includes engineering and multi-carrier variants as part of its strategy to expand and modernize in response to evolving threats.
Norway is among seven European countries operating the CV90 platform. The others include Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, and the Netherlands. With nearly 1,300 vehicles in service across various configurations, the vehicle is engineered to support future growth and adapt to changing mission requirements.
