
Otokar Aims to Broaden Its African Export Horizon
Turkey’s global land systems manufacturer Otokar is participating in the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) from September 18-22, in the City of Tshwane, South Africa. During the five-day exhibition, Otokar will present a miniature model of its tactical wheeled armored vehicle COBRA II, part of its comprehensive array of armored platforms. Visitors at the Otokar booth will have the chance to acquire detailed knowledge about Otokar’s outstanding capabilities in land systems, alongside its bespoke design and production of armored military vehicle families and turret systems.
Stating that Otokar is an accredited NATO and United Nations supplier, Sedef Vehbi, Head of Otokar Military Cluster, noted, “Currently, more than 33 thousand Otokar military vehicles are in operation across over 40 nations, with more than 60 end-users navigating a variety of climates and terrains worldwide. Currently, Otokar vehicles are actively deployed on five continents, including Africa. We differentiate ourselves in the international defense arena with our ability to quickly adapt to the continually changing needs and demands of our clientele.”
Highlighting COBRA II’s remarkable performance in Africa, Vehbi elaborated, “Our vehicles are extensively utilized by peacekeepers across the African continent. The Otokar COBRA II is a combat-proven vehicle with exceptional effectiveness suited for both conventional and asymmetric warfare scenarios. COBRA II is currently employed by over 20 end-users globally. We take great pride in our vehicles’ successes in various United Nations and African Union peacebuilding and peacekeeping missions. Our goal is to enhance our exports to Africa in the forthcoming years.”
