Revolutionary Fuel Initiative Unveiled by Defence Chief
The UK Defence Procurement Minister, Guto Bebb MP, has inaugurated a new production line for an innovative fuel known as ‘FireDragon,’ which is utilized by British soldiers to heat their combat rations and warm their beverages.
BCB International Ltd, a Cardiff-based manufacturer of survival equipment with 164 years of experience, has pioneered the first solid bio-ethanol fuel called ‘FireDragon’. In 2015, after comprehensive laboratory and field assessments, the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) opted to replace conventional hexamine fuel tablets with the groundbreaking ‘FireDragon’ fuel. To cater to the increasing demand for FireDragon, BCB International has invested nearly £750,000 in a new production line that the Minister will inaugurate during his visit.
Defence Minister Guto Bebb stated:
“From fighter jets to fuel rations, ensuring our troops have the best equipment is vital. FireDragon provides our armed forces with a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable fuel source.”
“With 164 years of expertise in survival equipment, BCB International’s new production line will facilitate the ability to meet rising demand and support the growth of its workforce in the future.”
UK Government in Wales Minister Stuart Andrew remarked:
“For decades, BCB International has been at the forefront of developing innovative products that protect lives in extreme conditions globally. Whether on a mountain, in a desert, deep in a jungle, or in rough seas, their dedication to innovation can often determine life or death.”
“This commitment extends to its workforce and operations in Wales. The establishment of this new production line signifies confidence in the skills and expertise of its workforce and reflects the company’s optimistic outlook for future growth.”
BCB International’s Managing Director, Andrew Howell, expressed:
“We are thrilled to host the Ministers at our FireDragon fuel facility. Warm meals significantly enhance a soldier’s morale, energy, and concentration. Sadly, for too long, soldiers had to inhale toxic fumes each time they utilized hexamine fuel tablets to prepare food in the field.”
“FireDragon is a safer and cleaner option. It is derived from sustainable natural components, is non-toxic, burns efficiently, can ignite even when wet, and can serve as a hand cleanser when necessary.”
“The British Army was the first military force to envision and transition to ‘FireDragon.’ This initiative has prompted other armies to contemplate FireDragon as a future fuel option.”
“We are presently in negotiations with several armies interested in incorporating ‘FireDragon’ into their operational ration packages.”
