MBDA Secures Deal to Enhance Brazil’s Tamandaré-Class Frigates with Advanced Sea Ceptor Missile Defense System
Sea Ceptor is an advanced weapon control system (WCS) that, in conjunction with the fully-active Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM), offers extensive self-defence capabilities and local area air protection (LAAD). This will empower Brazil’s Tamandaré-class frigates to safeguard themselves, accompanying vessels, and fixed assets against a broad spectrum of threat categories at sea or docked, even in the most demanding operational environments.
Currently, Sea Ceptor is operational with the Royal Navy’s Type 23 frigates and has been chosen for the upcoming Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. Brazil joins an expanding roster of international Sea Ceptor operators, including Chile, New Zealand, and Canada. The CAMM missile has also been supplied to the British Army for the Ground-Based Air Defence (GBAD) mission.
