The FN EVOLYS™ has been engineered in two calibers, 5.56x45mm NATO and 7.62x51mm NATO.

Weighing in at 5.5 to 6.2 kilograms depending on the caliber, the FN EVOLYS™ is significantly lighter than current standard machine guns. This diminished weight facilitates rapid mobility across challenging terrains and allows for a high rate of fire when necessary without any hassle.

Its lower weight and exceptional balance permit the weapon to be operated from any position. Transitioning between firing stances is simplified by the design of the sling attachment interface.

Another significant advancement in the FN EVOLYS™ is the patented lateral feed mechanism, which has enabled the inclusion of several key enhancements requested by users:

• The one-piece extended top rail allows for the installation of various inline optical sights such as day and night sights together, or magnifiers without the need to remove the iron sights.
• Effortless, instinctive, and rapid access to all controls for both left and right-handed shooters to improve handling in the field.
• All functions can be executed with a single hand, including engaging the belt.
• Cartridges are automatically repositioned when the feed cover is closed if the belt is not properly situated on the feed tray. This prevents a failure to feed the first round, providing excellent reassurance for the user.
• The last link is automatically ejected, clearing the path for a quicker and more reliable reload.
