Today, Pakistan successfully performed a test of an enhanced-range variant of the domestically produced Babur 1B Cruise Missile.

The Babur 1B Cruise Missile is designed to accurately strike targets on both land and sea. It was launched from an advanced Multi Tube Missile Launch System.

As per the military’s public relations division, Director General of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) Lieutenant General Nadeem Zaki Manj congratulated the scientists and engineers for their remarkable achievements in cruise missile technology. He also voiced full assurance that this test would further bolster Pakistan’s strategic deterrent capabilities.

The previous iteration of the Babur 1B had a reach of 700 kilometers, yet this time ISPR did not disclose the specific range of the Babur 1B cruise missile.

Earlier this year in March, the army successfully conducted a test launch of the Shaheen 1-A medium-range ballistic missile. According to ISPR, “The missile covered a distance of 900 kilometers, and the test flight was aimed at re-validating various design and technical specifications of the weapon system, which included an advanced guidance system.”
