Poland Locks In Major Deal for 96 Cutting-Edge Boeing AH-64E Apache Helicopters
The Government of Poland has finalized a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) for 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache assault helicopters, as part of the Polish KRUK Attack Helicopter initiative.
“We are privileged that the Government of Poland has placed their trust in us,” remarked Vince Logsdon, vice president, International Business Development for Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “The AH-64E Apache helicopters will enhance Poland’s operational prowess and interoperability with the U.S., NATO, and allied forces. We eagerly anticipate delivering this unparalleled capability.”
The LOA was issued a week after the Polish Ministry of National Defence revealed an offset agreement with Boeing. This arrangement encompasses maintenance and support of the Polish Armed Forces’ Apache helicopter fleet by the Polish defense sector, along with the establishment of training programs and backing the creation of a composite laboratory.
The offset initiatives aim to boost the sustainment capabilities of the Polish defense industry, foster the development of highly skilled positions within this sector, and promote technological progress, yielding substantial economic advantages.
“Poland’s decision to acquire 96 aircraft signifies the largest FMS order in the history of Boeing’s Vertical Lift division and will not just make Poland our 19th global Apache customer, but also the largest operator outside the United States,” stated Kathleen Jolivette, vice president and general manager, Vertical Lift.
Boeing has been manufacturing the AH-64 Apache for over 40 years in Mesa, Arizona. The AH-64E represents the latest iteration of the Apache and merges a battle-hardened design with cutting-edge technologies to provide an unmatched combination of performance and adaptability. Currently, there are more than 1,290 Apaches operational around the globe, with sustainment and training assistance provided by Boeing Global Services.
The Government of Poland selected the AH-64E Apache for the Polish Armed Forces’ emerging attack helicopter fleet in September 2022.
