Raytheon Technologies Secures $1.2 Billion Deal to Deliver Cutting-Edge Patriot Air Defense to Switzerland

Raytheon Technologies received a $1.2 billion international military sales agreement from the U.S. Army to supply Switzerland with the Patriot™ air defense system. With this transaction, Switzerland becomes the 18th global Patriot ally and the eighth European nation to select the system as the cornerstone of their aerial defense strategy.

The agreement encompasses five Patriot launch units along with a significant number of Guidance Enhanced Missiles, referred to as GEM-T. This missile has demonstrated its capability to neutralize tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and hostile aircraft.

“Engineered specifically to tackle modern threats, Patriot stands out as the reliable, ground-based air defense solution for the U.S. Army and now 17 allied nations,” stated Tom Laliberty, president of Land Warfare & Air Defense at Raytheon. “Switzerland is now part of this Global Patriot user network and will gain immense advantages from shared technology, collaboration, experience, and cost efficiencies over the life span of the weapon system.”

The Patriot proposal for Switzerland featured initiatives for collaboration with local industries. Raytheon will partner with Swiss firms to deliver the Patriot system, addressing Switzerland’s air defense requirements and protecting its national sovereignty.

Patriot is the most capable, advanced, and uniquely combat-tested ground-based air defense system available globally to counter advanced long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and an array of aerial threats. As these threats develop, so too does Patriot. Its technology is perpetually enhanced, evaluated, and updated, supported by ongoing investments from all partner nations involved in the Patriot program.
