Saab Secures Contract to Enhance Sweden’s Armed Forces Air Traffic Control Systems

Defence and security corporation Saab has formalized a three-year pact with the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) to ensure ongoing maintenance and enhancements of air traffic management and airport systems across all Swedish Air Force airports and bases.

This agreement signifies that Saab will assume continual technical responsibility for coordinating systems, along with maintaining and developing the infrastructure associated with air traffic management and airport operations. Additionally, Saab is tasked with guaranteeing compliance with the requirements necessary for operating military airports.

Saab provides advanced systems for traffic management, and this upgrade of air traffic management systems at all air force airports further solidifies our role as a supplier to FMV, states Anders Carp, head of Saab’s Traffic Management division.

The air traffic management system incorporates multiple products from Saab’s extensive portfolio designed for air traffic towers, focusing on integrating various systems to enhance and facilitate air traffic controller operations.

Moreover, Saab will ensure that all functionalities are technically viable against both current and future demands. This will be achieved through industry monitoring, performance assessment, verification, and validation. The agreement also encompasses maintenance, upgrades, and the replacement of equipment.

The contract is set to run from 2016 to 2018, with an option for extending it by an additional three years.
