Rolls-Royce Teams Up with IHI for Next-Gen Fighter Engine Innovation

The engine demonstration initiative will be a vital advancement in allowing the two nations to collaborate on their future combat aircraft needs, potentially safeguarding hundreds of future job opportunities in both the UK and Japan.

Work on the collaborative engine demonstrator is set to commence early next year, with the UK committing an initial £30 million towards planning, digital designs, and groundbreaking manufacturing innovations.

Additionally, a further £200 million of UK funding is projected to be allocated for the development of a full-scale demonstrator propulsion system, fostering hundreds of highly skilled employment opportunities, particularly at Rolls-Royce’s Filton facility in Bristol.
