Rostec Unveils Ambitious Plans for T-500 Manufacturing Revolution

Launch of New Aircraft Assembly Facility in Tatarstan

Sergey Chemezov, the CEO of Rostec State Corporation, and Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, recently announced an ambitious project to establish an aircraft assembly facility and an aerodrome for experimental aviation in Tatarstan. Construction is set to commence in 2020, with the facility expected to begin operations by 2022.

This cutting-edge enterprise will focus on assembling the T-500 aircraft, alongside various other models, including both two-seat and unmanned versions. The nearby experimental aviation airfield will facilitate function check flights and test flights for the newly manufactured aircraft, streamlining the production process.

“Our aim is to develop modern production facilities and create competitive civilian aviation products,” stated Sergey Chemezov. “With a high-tech production capacity of up to 100 aircraft annually, we will manufacture the advanced T-500 airplane. The total investment for this project amounts to approximately 2.5 billion rubles. The T-500 boasts a wide range of applications in aerial chemical works, facility monitoring, and forest protection. I believe there will be a strong demand for this aircraft not only within Russia but also in international markets such as Latin America, Africa, Europe, and the CIS.”

This initiative is a collaborative effort between Rostec State Corporation and the Republic of Tatarstan, following an agreement signed at MAKS-2017 to implement a national system for aerial chemical works. The Tatarstan Government has allocated a site for this facility, which will be located within the special economic zone ‘Innopolis,’ providing advantageous conditions including tax benefits.

Key components of the aircraft will be fabricated using domestic composite materials, primarily by the Obninsk Research and Development Enterprise ‘Tekhnologhia’ n.a. A.G. Romashin, which is part of Rostec State Corporation. The project will be overseen by Aeropraktika LLC, a subsidiary of Tekhnologhia. Residents of the SEZ ‘Innopolis’ will also contribute by developing software necessary for creating the national aerial chemical works system.
