Oshkosh Defense Secures $95 Million Triumph in FHTV Contract!
Oshkosh Defense LLC, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation, announced today that the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has awarded a contract valued at $95 million for the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicle (FHTV) V program. This acquisition encompasses the enhanced, autonomy-equipped Palletized Load System (PLS) A2.
The innovative driver assistance and autonomy-equipped capabilities of the PLS A2 provide significant improvements in Soldier safety and bolster situational awareness on the battlefield. By integrating by-wire and active-safety technologies, the PLS A2 is in line with the Army’s vision for a technology-driven logistics force capable of executing missions in contested environments while reducing risks to the Warfighter. The versatile configuration of the heavy fleet holds substantial promise for the expansion and incorporation of cutting-edge technologies to promote unit innovation as threats and requirements evolve.
“The PLS A2 exemplifies how Oshkosh Defense is utilizing next-generation autonomy to enhance human-machine collaboration and improve operational efficiency,” remarked Pat Williams, chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense. “As the U.S. Army advances its ‘transformation in contact’ initiatives, we remain committed to developing mission-critical solutions that offer technologies that can be rapidly integrated into existing operational units.”
The manufacturing rollout of the PLS A2 is projected to begin this year. The FHTV V initiative permits Oshkosh to deliver forward-looking enhancements to heavy tactical vehicles and trailers that align with the Army’s comprehensive modernization strategy.
