SAMI and Bahri Forge Partnership to Enhance Local Defense Logistics Solutions

In alignment with its dedication to enhancing the competencies and endorsing the localization of Saudi Arabia’s military manufacturing sector, Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), a fully-owned branch of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has finalized a logistics services contract with Bahri, a global frontrunner in logistics and transportation. According to the stipulations of the contract, Bahri will deliver extensive internal and external logistics solutions, including maritime, aerial, and terrestrial transport, along with freight services to the diverse business divisions and associated firms of SAMI.

The contract was formalized at SAMI’s headquarters in Riyadh by Eng. Walid Abukhaled, the CEO of SAMI, alongside Eng. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, the CEO of Bahri. The agreement encompasses the provision of comprehensive door-to-door logistics and transport services to ensure the seamless execution of SAMI’s projects and initiatives, in addition to bolstering the localization of defense logistics.

Reflecting on the agreement, Eng. Walid Abukhaled, CEO of SAMI, remarked: “We are thrilled, as the national defense leader, to establish a partnership with Bahri, the national shipping carrier, to fulfill our escalating logistics demands. This agreement highlights the Kingdom’s vigorous endeavors to enhance its military industries and logistics sectors. The mutual goals of SAMI and Bahri concerning Vision 2030 will significantly influence the synergies within the Kingdom’s defense ecosystem. Furthermore, this achievement aligns with PIF’s mission through SAMI to cultivate strategic collaborations.”

Eng. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, CEO of Bahri, stated: “Bahri is honored to be engaged by SAMI and is eager to assist their defense industry localization initiatives. We are privileged that our contributions are targeted at safeguarding Saudi Arabia’s security, particularly in our capacity as the exclusive logistics provider for the Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, and the Presidency of State Security along with all its branches. Additionally, this agreement reinforces our commitment to empowering prominent Saudi entities in both public and private domains by offering top-notch logistics services, in harmony with the Vision 2030 objectives aiming to position the Kingdom as a global logistics nexus and a vibrant investment hub.”

According to the agreement, SAMI’s five business units, together with its affiliates, including the Advanced Electronics Company (AEC), Aircraft Accessories and Components Company (AACC), SAMINavantia, SAMI L3Harris, and SAMI CMI, will benefit from Bahri’s logistics solutions. Although the agreement currently applies to the Saudi market, both companies are collaborating to broaden its reach to encompass the global defense and logistics sectors in the foreseeable future.
