
SAMI Unveils Groundbreaking Engine Innovations in Saudi Arabia’s Aerospace Sector
SAMI, the national defense and security advocate, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) enterprise, has finalized a contract with Safran Helicopter Engines for the upkeep and refurbishment of engines.
SAMI is poised to amplify its MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) capabilities by collaborating with Safran Helicopter Engines to develop helicopter engine expertise in Saudi Arabia. This agreement encompasses technical support, accreditation, establishment of technical infrastructure, and skill development for Saudi professionals who will achieve their prestigious qualifications at Safran Helicopter Engines’ facility in Tarnos, France.

In his remarks regarding this recent advancement, SAMI’s CEO Eng. Walid A. Abukhaled stated: “This represents a significant achievement in SAMI’s dedication to localizing aerospace capabilities within the kingdom. Through this partnership, SAMI is resolute in its mission to ensure national engine support by cultivating competencies that involve technical infrastructure and outstanding career progression for Saudi specialized talents.”
Safran Helicopter Engines will nurture SAMI’s Saudi workforce in the maintenance and servicing of the Makila 1 and Arriel 2 helicopter engines featured in the Saudi Arabia Super Puma, Panther, and various other helicopter models.
