Saudi Arabia Expands Fleet with Major Order of Airbus H125 Helicopters

The Helicopter Company (THC), entirely owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), has officially signed a purchase agreement with Airbus Helicopters for the acquisition of 10 H125 helicopters.

This strategic deal aligns with THC’s mission to enhance its fleet and introduce innovative services that cater to market demands, contributing significantly to the growth of the aviation sector within the Kingdom.

Renowned for its versatility, the Airbus H125 helicopter can transport up to six passengers and is easily adaptable for various operational needs. THC plans to leverage these new helicopters to launch exciting services in scenic tourism, as well as aerial operations like filming, banner towing, and surveying.

Captain Arnaud Martinez, the CEO of THC, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the agreement: “By finalizing this purchase, THC is making a significant leap in expanding its fleet and executing our ambitious operational strategy. We take pride in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s tourism and aviation industries through our innovative air transport services, offering passengers a unique opportunity to experience the Kingdom from the sky.”

He continued, “I want to express our gratitude to our partners at Airbus Helicopters for crafting an agreement that meets our needs, and we look forward to deepening our collaboration in the future. Special thanks also go to PIF for their unwavering support since our inception as we strive to advance Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector.”

Ben Bridge, Executive Vice President of Global Business at Airbus Helicopters, remarked: “This order signifies the start of an exciting partnership between The Helicopter Company and Airbus Helicopters. The H125 is ideally suited for commercial operations in Saudi Arabia, showcasing its power and versatility, especially in hot and high-altitude environments.”

As the Kingdom’s inaugural local commercial helicopter operator, THC has been facilitating private flights since mid-2019 and is now set to expand its offerings with the inclusion of the H125. This new agreement will significantly contribute to the evolution of Saudi Arabia’s vibrant yet emerging tourism and aviation industries, while fostering the integration of both sectors’ value chains.
