Thales Partners with AERALIS to Pioneering Innovative Training Solutions for Next-Gen Modular Aircraft in the UK
AERALIS, the UK-based military aircraft innovator, has formed a Collaborative Agreement with Thales in the United Kingdom to explore cutting-edge philosophies, methodologies, devices, and systems for the operation of the groundbreaking AERALIS platforms. This initiative will coincide with AERALIS’ partnership with the RAF’s Rapid Capabilities Office aimed at advancing research and development of an Advanced Modular Aircraft system.
AERALIS is revolutionizing opportunities for light military jet aircraft across various functionalities in the defense sector, such as training, aggressor, and light combat roles. The focus lies on a UK-centric development and manufacturing initiative aimed at creating an agile, modular, and commercially-oriented aircraft system designed to enhance capabilities while significantly lowering lifecycle expenses for clients. As they pursue the development and certification of a wide array of future aircraft systems to support the Royal Air Force’s objective of optimizing its prospective fleet, AERALIS will collaborate with Thales in the UK to ensure that necessary training systems for pilot instruction are ready in tandem with the modular aircraft system.
AERALIS envisions its aircraft system being part of advanced training solutions for clientele encompassing all dimensions of flying and operational education. Next-generation synthetic training devices and simulators will play a crucial role in this endeavor. With a highly proficient Training and Simulation division responsible for the design and operation of synthetic flight training simulators, such as those utilized at the RAF’s Voyager and Atlas training centers at RAF Brize Norton, Thales in the UK is set to leverage many of its cutting-edge training solutions to enhance the AERALIS system, ensuring groundbreaking offerings for clients.
“Thales has consistently backed the AERALIS ambition to provide innovative and cost-efficient solutions for our armed forces. We are excited to establish this further Collaborative Agreement to fulfill our shared goals, which align with the Royal Air Force’s aspirations for their Project ASTRA journey towards a Next Generation Air Force,” stated Darryn (Daz) Rawlins OBE, Managing Director of Thales Training & Simulation, UK Domain.
By collaborating with the RAF’s Rapid Capabilities Office, Thales’ premier Synthetic Training Equipment and aircrew training systems will enhance AERALIS’ progress on its all-British modular aircraft system. Support for AERALIS from both the RAF and Thales in the UK illustrates the significant confidence in British innovation and creativity for a project that holds the promise of revitalizing British aircraft manufacturing, utilizing the existing wealth of infrastructure and expertise throughout the UK.
