Kuwait Secures $370 Million Drone Partnership with Turkey’s Baykar
Turkey is poised to supply an undisclosed quantity of combat drones to Kuwait in a deal estimated at $370 million, as announced by Turkish defense corporation Baykar on Wednesday.
The global appetite for Baykar’s TB2 drones surged after they were employed in battles across Syria, Libya, and Azerbaijan, and interest escalated further due to their deployment by Ukraine’s armed forces against Russian aggressors.
“A contract valued at $370 million was finalized with the Kuwait Ministry of Defense for the export of Bayraktar TB2 drones,” Baykar disclosed in a statement.
The announcement did not disclose the precise number of drones to be sent to Kuwait or the timeline for delivery.
“Baykar triumphed over prominent competitors from the United States, Europe, and China in the (bidding) procedure that has been ongoing since 2019,” the statement elaborated.
Moreover, with Kuwait’s agreement, the number of nations that have signed contracts for the Bayraktar TB2 has risen to 28.
